The One That Was The Last
Remember how the TV show 'Friends' always titled their episodes that way? "The One That Was..." I don't know what made me think of that just now. Funny thing is that WAAAAAY back in the beginning of this blog, I thought it would be so very clever to title all my posts like that. If you look in my archives, that lasted for a very short time and then I gave it up. So very typical of the way I do things.

Generally, I am a quitter. A giver-upper, if you will. Now titling my blog posts in the way of 'Friends' isn't much to speak of in the way of quitting, but it really is my personality. I start many things and eventually give up. Obviously, I HAVE continued blogging, so that is a plus. I AM still going to Weight Watchers. That is a huge plus in my favor. Right around now is typically when I give up and quit because "I can't do this." So, Nablopomo is a big deal to me for this very reason. It is one little bitty thing I actually CAN do and say I completed. Whether good posts or bad posts, by golly, I did it!

So, today I am saying, yay me!

PS I do have one more post for today, but it will have to wait until after work. So, really, this isn't "The One That Was The Last."

If only I wouldn't wait until the last minute...
....perhaps I would post something of actual substance.

Jameson got the sniffles a few days ago with an occasional cough. By this morning, the cough was a lot worse. I told Bubba that he really needed to take Jameson to the doctor because I thought he was probably getting pneumonia.

At around 11:30 this morning, he called me and said, "Don't you hate always being right?"

Yep. Jameson has pneumonia. I rock in the diagnosis department. I should be a doctor.

Blog gods help me, it's almost over!
I'm in the freakin' home stretch. I'm rounding third base and my blog coach is waving me in!! Nablopomo is almost over and I have nary a thing to show for it.

No, that's not true. It's one thing in my life that I CAN accomplish. (yes, I lead a sad, pathetic and boring life.)Good or bad, I posted every single day. This year's posts were sadly uninspired, but I did it. Only 3 more to go.

Anyway, don't you just hate bloggers who talk about blogging? Me, too.

Bubba put the tree up today as I slept. (I worked 11p to 7a) We got the lights on and have it mostly decorated with all the ornaments the kids have made/painted/glittered/glued.

The best part? The bottom eighth of the tree is the only section that blinks. We rock.

I can haz Bible?
Ok, chalk this one up as one of those things that you probably SHOULDN'T laugh at, but you do. That sort of uncomfortable thing that your handicapped friend says about themselves that is funny but you don't want to laugh about.

I only use that as an example because I have a friend, let's call him Kenny (because that's his name), who has cerebral palsy. His legs are forever stuck in a partially bent position and he walks...well..weird. He falls often, but it is just part of his life. He gets back up and plows on in his uneven gait. It's such that you can hear him coming a mile away because his steps are so odd and labored. He makes fun of himself all the time and after you've been his friend for a while, you learn, it's ok to laugh. He's making lemonade out of the lemons he's been given.

Anyway, wow, I got off on a tangent there.

So, leave it to Michael to give me something to blog about in the way of a link via one of his "What I Saw Today on the Net" posts. No one else will probably think this is a funny as I. I know the LOLCats thing is old and over used. But sometimes, they are funny. But this...this is an LOLCat translation of the bible. Seriously. I was literally laughing so hard I was crying and snorting and waking the house up last night.

Here's the LINK. It's bad. I know. But, oh my goodness is it ever funny.

Don't make fun of me and my bad sense of humor, ok?

PS I was going to print one of my favorite lines, but I gotta go to work. I have to work 11pm to 7am tonight. 'Night all!

Happy Birthday to me
Yep, I'm 37 today. It's pretty much like every other day. I don't feel different or older or more mature.

My kids woke me up with Happy Birthday wishes and Bubba made me breakfast, complete with turkey bacon which is better for my diet and he made a big pot of my favorite turkey chili for lunch. My kids have been behaving and it's just been a nice quiet day at home. Who could ask for anything more?

Ok, let's see, here are some people who share my birthday.

~~JFK jr
~~Christina Applegate
~~Jenna and Barbara Bush
~~Ricardo Montalban
~~a bunch of other people that no one cares about

On this day in history...

~~1963--The body of JFK was laid to rest. (On his son's birthday. How sad.)
~~1999--Elian Gonzalez was rescued by fishermen off the state of Florida.
~~2002--President Bush signed legislation creating the Dept. of Homeland Security.

Of course, the most important event was MY birth! ;)

I actually got tagged for this one
Nobody tags me anymore. I feel like the last kid in gym class to get picked. BUT, one of my super duper new blog reads (thank you nablopomo!), Melinda Zook tagged me for the 7 Random Things meme. I THINK I've done it before, but heck if I can find it now, so I'll do it again. Problem is, thinking of 7 things you guys don't know about me is going to be hard.

So, here are 7 Random Things About Me

1. I have a routine in the shower. There is an exact way I have to wash and condition my hair and wash my body. It feels very wrong if I stray from said routine. There's an after-shower routine, too.

2. Bubba says I have a bionic nose. I can sniff out odd smells before anyone else. Well, before him, anyway.

3. I HATE asking for help in a store. I much prefer to wander around until I find what I'm looking for by myself. Bubba does ask and it drives me crazy! This is one reason why I hate to shop. Just let me go to the book store where no one will bother me. Then, as I am wandering in search of something, I look just like everyone else in the store.

4. I know I am done having babies because these days, when I see a new baby, I have pretty much no desire to hold it. It's more like, "Aww, how cute." And that is it. In the past I was first in line to grab a baby and hold it and smell it and yearn for another. Nope. Not now. No thanks. Babies are cute. Don't want any more. Good thing I'm "fixed."

5. I LOVE song lyrics. That is one reason why I love DMB so darn much. My Davey can turn a phrase.

6. I am the only person on earth who can NOT wear eyeliner without it becoming raccoon eyes in 5.2 seconds flat! There is not an eyeliner made that will not do this to me. I have resorted to wearing eyeliner only on the top lids. Guess what? Raccoon eyes.

7. I prefer cloudy weather to sun. I like being home from work on a gloomy day so I can just lay around and do nothing. (like that is any different than any other day.) I don't like bright shiny sunlight. It shows too many imperfections...on my face and also it highlights the dirty areas of my house. Like the floors that need scrubbed hard. Mostly, I just prefer night time.

Ok, is that sufficiently weird?

Is November over yet?
I am totally running out of things to write about this month. Ugh.

Anyway...lets do a few bullets, shall we?

  • A couple more pet peeves as of late--people who use the phrase, "brain fart" or pronounce Target as "Tar-jay/Tar-zhay." Just stop. Hate.
  • I wanted a piece of sugar cream pie for Thanksgiving. There are no sugar cream pies to be had in the city of Muncie.
  • I just don't get why some vegetarians eat things that taste like meat. Meat crumbles and veggie burgers and such. Tofurky? No thanky.
  • I kinda like some of the songs on Jordin Sparks' new CD. I think I am too old to like them. Ah, who cares?
  • I give up on the moisturization of my feet. Seriously. Lost cause. I hate you, winter.
  • I wonder if I will be recording a loss this Saturday, AKA weigh-in? It's a good thing we are staying at home. Less food=lesser opportunity to completely lose control and cram turkey, pie and dressing in my mouth by the handfuls.
  • I found an old friend on MySpace last week. It's been fun reminiscing about old times and catching up with more recent things. I don't care what people say about MySpace, it rocks! In a cheesy, blinky, bad photo posey, kind of way. But it still rocks!
  • My birthday is in 3 days. 4 days. Wait, do I just count Thursday, Friday and Saturday since my birthday is on Sunday? or...Is it 4 days...25th minus 21st = 4 days? Anyway, my birthday is Sunday. 37 sounds...not old..just weird. I don't FEEL 37.
  • I don't have a good feeling about the Colts game tomorrow night. Go blue!
  • It just thundered! At 11:35pm on Thanksgiving eve. We should not be having a thunderstorm in November.
  • Thong Song just came on my Napster. Dumps like a truck...now THERE'S some lyrics. They just don't write 'em like that anymore. Heh.
  • I am not going shopping tomorrow. Or Friday. All y'all who do? Crazy.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas Ornamentpalooza
Today we started the Beaty Family Christmas Ornament-palooza. What is that, you ask? Well, one Mr Bubba decided a while back that there would be nothing but home made (by the kids)ornaments on the tree this year. So, he acquired many craft supplies and the fun started today. They painted and glittered and glued for a couple of hours and there are many more to do yet. They had a great time and I did get some pictures, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Be jealous of the awesome husband I have.

Ok, I have to go to bed. Pictures tomorrow and also when we get the tree up and decorated. Oh, and you'll also get to see Theresa and Albert the snowmen. Named so by Braelyn.

Goodnight all!

11.4
That's how much of The FAT which has left my body! I FINALLY hit that 10lb mark! Woo hoo! Brianna has now lost 12.6lbs so we are neck and neck.

I'll keep you posted on the progress, as usual.

The concert (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) was really good last night. Very entertaining. From the cheesy rock, to making sure my kids weren't kicking the back of the seats in front of them, to being frickin' BLINDED by the lights used in the show...well, I actually had a great time. The kids enjoyed it even though it went on for hours and hours.

I believe our seats were the only ones in exact direct line of fire for the beams of light to be right in our eyes. I swear NO ONE else behind us or in front of us had any trouble keeping their eyes open at all. Of course, MY problem could have been the fact that I got to laughing so hard that I was almost literally crying. Not just tears from laughing, but actually crying. Have you ever done that? So then my eyes were watery and sensitive. What was I laughing at? Well, I can't even describe it, and if I could, you wouldn't think it was funny at all. All I will say that at one point early in the show, I saw something, immediately looked over at Bubba who was having the same thought and I busted out laughing and couldn't stop for a good full 5 minutes. It was so bad, Jameson kept saying, "Mommy! What's wrong?!" Thank goodness the music was LOUD during that 5 minutes, otherwise, I probably would have been kicked out. Or had a beer poured over my head.
Need to crop out the head.

Which reminds me...I can not believe the number of times some people got up and went out during the show. The same people. Over and over. And over. Most of the time it was to get yet ANOTHER beer. Seriously, people, can you NOT watch a show without getting sloshed? It was so very annoying. Luckily, there was no one in my row who wanted out during the show, but had there been, I might have tripped them.

Before the show, the scoreboard hanging from the ceiling was advertising upcoming events at the venue. Braelyn can now read so she was announcing things like Sesame Street Live and such. After the show, we were in the hallway waiting for the crowd to disperse and Bubba was saying how he wouldn't mind seeing TSO again. Braelyn chimes in and says, "I want to see "Gun and Knife." Yeah, there's a gun and knife show coming and she thought it was some kind of music show or something. Not real sure if I should be disturbed that she wants to see a band called, "Gun & Knife."

Today, I experienced parenting HELL, but I'll tell y'all about that tomorrow. For now, I have to get this posted before the stroke of midnight or my blog will turn into a pumpkin.

Night all!

TSO

A few weeks ago, I won tickets to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Go me! One of my co-workers won some, too. She gave them to my boss who only ended up needing two of the four, so she gave me two more. The show is tonight and we're all going, plus Brianna's boyfriend. It's about an hour and a half away, so I need to go start getting ready.

Everybody have a fun Friday night!

Chocolate rain
Did anyone watch the live broadcast of Dave Matthews Band at West Point on attblueroom.com last night? If not, you missed a GREAT show. The second show is going on LIVE right now and yes, of course I am watching. **swoon**

Anyway, as I was watching last night, they got into one of their long musical interludes. The sax player and trumpet player were playing together and after a couple of minutes I realized they were playing....Chocolate Rain! Funniest thing ever and I just love DMB even more now!

I'm thinking about selling a kidney so I can see them in concert next summer. Ebay, here I come.

I didn't get tagged
MissZoot got tagged and since I visit her blog like a stalker, I thought I would steal this meme for my own self. Tagged or not. Here are the "rules"-List one fact, word or tidbit that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your first or middle name (or both, like me). You can theme it to your blog or make it general. Then tag one person for each letter of your name. For the record, I'm not tagging anyone to do this. I LIKE my blog friends. hee

A:Acrophobia Fear of heights. I have an extreme fear of heights. Just the THOUGHT of being someplace up high makes my stomach turn flip flops and my knees go weak. Luckily, I have no need to EVER be anyplace high.

N:Nostalgic Wow, am I ever nostalgic. I reminisce a LOT. I love to look at old photos, listen to old music, watch old movies. Now, when I say "old" I mean from my lifetime. 70s, 80s, 90s. I have wonderful memories that just make me feel all warm and fuzzy. I don't live in the past, but sometimes I do long for some of those days.

G:Gary Sinise My most favorite actor EVER. If you ask me why, I won't really be able to put my finger on just why I love him so much. A few of my favorite roles include Gary as George in 'Of Mice And Men,' 'Mother' in 'A Midnight Clear,' Stu Redman in 'The Stand' and, of course, Lt Dan in "Forrest Gump.' I long to go to Chicago to seem him perform in a play at the Steppenwolf Theater which he co-founded years ago. Someday.

E:Emotional Moody. Whatever. I cry easily. I get mad easily. I get annoyed easily. I laugh easily. Some say it's called being a woman. Perhaps. But I embrace my emotional tendencies. Everyone else should, too.

L:Late I am perpetually running late. Bubba hates it. I try to fix it. Now, I may run behind, however, I am usually not late for work. I've only had ONE warning at work in the 8 years I've worked there. I think that's pretty decent. Bubba says, get up 5 minutes earlier. I say if I did, I'd use up those 5 minutes anyway and STILL run late. My mom was exactly like this when she was in the working world. My sisters are the same way. It's genetic.

A:Associates Degree I earned a degree in Medical Assisting back in '96.I really like medical "stuff," however, I didn't much care for doing work that so closely resembles nursing. I much more enjoyed the more clerical part of the medical office. So now, I work in client services in a medical lab. Close enough. I like it and it pays pretty well. I guess that's all that matters.

D:Duran Duran/Dave Matthews Band My two favorites of all time. I still have mad love for Duran Duran. They were really my first true band love and I could never break up with them. I don't love every song they ever produce, but I have to love them for their 80s catalog. Plus? John Taylor is still freakin' HOT! Now, my DMB love doesn't go back as far, of course, because they haven't been around since the early 80s, but I probably love them even more than my DD. I love the lyrics, the music, the musicians. And Dave is sexy.

I:Indiana I'm an Indiana girl, born and raised. I love Indiana and the city in which I live. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Well, except Tennessee, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

A:Anti-social Don't get me wrong, I WILL go out and about if I have to. And of course I have to work. But, if given the choice, I would rather stay home in the comfort and safety that is my home. I have not always been this way. It has developed over time and I try, I really do. I try to force myself to go out and do things. It's better if someone is with me. Namely, Bubba. I have this weird thing where I think if someone else is with me, then everyone won't be looking at ME and thinking mean things about the fat lady with bad hair and ugly clothes. Wow. I am making it sound worse than it is. I DO go places. I just prefer not to go to the grocery store alone if I don't have to. I prefer to not go to school functions alone. Funny thing? I go to the movies alone on occasion. How weird is that?

N:November I was born in November. I'm a Sagittarius. I have no idea what that might mean as I don't really believe in that whole astrology thing. Every few years, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving. I'll be 37 in 11 days. I don't like having a big deal made over my birthday. Just the kids saying, "Happy Birthday!" is enough for me. I don't even mind if I get presents or not. Though, if you *cough*Bubba*cough* were to give me the Friday Night Lights first season on DVD, I wouldn't refuse it.

E:Entertainment I love the pop culture. I love TV and movies and music and celebrity gossip. Guilty pleasures, all. But, I think you knew that.

Love of reading
I loved to read from the moment I learned how. I was 4 years old when my Sunday School teacher asked my mom if she knew that I could read. My mom didn't believe her so she had me read a book for her.

From that time on, I read EVERYTHING. My mom would take me to the library and I would fill a paper grocery sack full of books and then go home and read right through them in a day or so. I devoured books. I read all the Nancy Drews and Hardy Boys. I read all of Roald Dahl's books and as I got older, all of Judy Blume's. And on, and on. By the time I was 10 or 11, the library of books that I owned was pretty big. I discovered the Sweet Valley High series and read them all. I soon graduated to VC Andrews and then Stephen King.

After I had Brianna, I hoped that she would love to read as much as me. It seemed she was going to. She liked to read up until about the 3rd grade and then she pretty much lost interest. She has since rediscovered her love for reading and probably reads more than I do.

Now, Braelyn can read. She has discovered chapter books and the Junie B Jones series. She is reading like crazy! I am loving every minute of it. Especially when she said, "Mommy, these books have lots of words that I have to sound out. And, there's not many pictures, but I can see it all in my head."

Be still my heart.

The Colts have the best fans EVER!
The Colts lost last week and when I went to drop off Jameson at his school on Monday, this is what I saw.
Now, I know it is a horrible picture, but I was trying to get a photo without other people seeing me take it. In case you can't read it, it says, "OOPS! S*IT HAPPENS!"

At least they had the...um..foresight...or awareness to NOT spell out the whole word!

Gotta love a good Indiana Redneck.

PS They drove around like that all week. I won't be surprised if it is still there tomorrow.

PPS I missed kick-off tonight. Damn you, Amazing Race!

I heart food.
I know, that is no surprise. But it's true. I do love me some food. BAD food. I would like nothing more, right now, than to sit down with 3 or 4 different junk foods and just eat my way into oblivion.

Things have changed, though, since I began working on lifestyle improvements back in October. Ha ha. That means, I'm on a diet. And it is working. Slowly. Mainly because my obsession with all things food has not gone away. I STILL obsess about what I will eat next, it's just that what I'm going to eat next is healthy and possibly full of fiber and little fat.

Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the Weight Watchers plan, it involves a system of points. Depending on your weight, age, sex and level of activity,(as opposed to level of sexual activity) you get a certain amount of points daily. Each food that you eat will cost you points. There is a points calculator slide thingie that you get when you join and points are calculated using fiber grams, fat grams and calories. Also, each "natural" food such as veggies and fruits and proteins are listed in a food guide. Anyway, this system works best for me because if I really want something fattening, I can count the points and move on. Craving fulfilled. It makes me think twice about wasting lots of points on something like a small doughnut.

Now, I am always on a quest to find something that is low in points but which tastes good. My daughter and I found just that in Mrs. Freshley's Snack Away cakes. I mean they are teh yum! They are high fiber and less sugar and 2 or 3 points per. I am perfectly willing to save 2 points for the end of the day to enjoy one of these luscious cakes. And when I say enjoy, I mean, ENJOY. I "mmmmm" my way through them every time.
These are way good and taste pretty close to Hostess Cupcakes.

Brianna likes these better than a "real" twinkie. They ARE pretty dang good, though if you don't eat them quickly, they tend to start molding. How THAT happened is beyond me.
Imagine my disappointment the day I grabbed one and opened it and there was a big green mold spot growing on it! It was very hard to throw that scrumptious cake in the trash can.

The drawback of the Mrs. Freshley's is the cost. They are a tad pricey for our budget. Cut to last week when Brianna went to the store to pick up a few things. She came home excited because she found these...
They are half the cost and as Brianna pointed out, there are more in a box than the others.

A little later, Brianna came in and said, "Mom, look." She was holding one of the Little Debbie Triple Fudge Brownies in her hand. I immediately busted out laughing! No wonder there are more in one box. They are teeny tiny! Well, I call this teeny tiny.

See, my problem is, my brain needs to think it is getting a LOT of food. So, I am much better off eating a cupcake as opposed to the teeny tiny triple fudge for the same points amount. I have to fool my brain so I don't want more, more, more.

Now, for those of you who feel my pain and relate to my plight, I've added a donate button in the side bar to fund my Mrs. Freshley's habit. Please send $$!

ha ha. Just kidding.

Trying not to obsess
I'm trying very hard not to obsess about the writer's strike going on and how it will affect my favorite shows. See, it's all about me and my pleasure, right?

I came across this site today that lists just about any show you can think of and either how many episodes they've produced or how many episodes there are left, or both.

I am particularly sad that Grey's only has 4 original episodes left and that there will be no more How I Met Your Mother after November. Production of The Office has shut down and this coming week just may be it for the season. Of course at this point, it doesn't much matter about Lost since what episodes they do have done, won't be airing until well after the first of the year. There are several other shows that I love which only have 3 to 6 episodes remaining.

Of course, and you should know this, the ONE show I am the most upset about ceasing production is Friday Night Lights. What the heck will I do without my weekly dose of Coach Taylor and his family, creepy and sweaty Buddy Garrity, Lyra (also known as Landry and Tyra), or the train wreck that is Tim Riggins and his trusty side-kick, Jason Street?? (which, by the way, WHEN did Tim start calling Jason, "Six?" Last season, I didn't hear that even once. Whatever.)

I guess once the new episodes stop, I'll be able to get caught up with what I've got on the DVR. :)

I survived Bubba's time away--Or How I Spent My November Vacation
"I could not be a single mother."

That is what I told Bubba on the phone a few days ago while he was out of town. Yes, I am somewhat dramatic at times, but I was dead serious when I said it. In reality, well, I COULD be a single mother, I just wouldn't like it much. Same goes for being a stay-at-home mom. Uh-uh. Not for me.

Much to Bubba's surprise, we all survived Mommy having to take care of things. I cooked. Perhaps they were simple meals, but I did cook. I kept the house fairly clean. I did laundry. I got the kids to and from school on time. I even bathed them every day. (thank goodness Brianna can take care of herself. hee) We managed just fine, thank you.

I did miss Bubba like crazy. We haven't been away from each other for a whole week in quite a while. I think Brianna was about 3 years old the last time. I went on vacation with my parents and sisters that year to North Carolina. It was the same year as the OJ Simpson Murder thing. We watched the Bronco chase on tv.

Anyway, nothing much happened during the whole week he was gone. He got home Friday morning at around 11-ish so he got to surprise the kids when we picked them up from school. Jameson came RUNNING and Bubba had to fight the tears. He's such a softie. When we picked Braelyn up, Jameson and I went up to the doors to get her. She said, "When is Daddy going to be home?" I said, "I don't know. Hopefully soon!" We walked back to the van and it took her a couple of seconds to realize Bubba was sitting inside. She was just as excited as Jameson.

Friday night, we ate out at Ryan's. I was very good despite all the bad-for-me stuff on the buffet. I did, however, splurge and had one of their delicious buttery rolls. Mmmm....

Why am I giving you a play-by-play? Jeez...boring.

Oh, but thank goodness Bubba came home when he did. Jameson saw a mouse in the laundry room and we've now caught 2 mice. Yuck! I do NOT do mousetraps. I'd just move.

More of me gone
I have to brag because it feels like it is taking for freaking ever to lose. I know, I've only been working on it for 4 weeks, but dang it, I want this FAT to fall off me quickly!!

Anyway, on to the bragging. Remember when I was all, "I have no appetite...bad for weight loss..blah blah blah?" Well, I guess it worked for me this week because I am now down another 2 lbs!

8.6 total. I can handle 8lbs every 4 weeks, though I'd rather it be 10 or 12. A girl can dream, can't she?

Where were you when...
Yet another idea stolen from Snarkwife. I'm a little blank for content today so I went looking for something to write about.

If you're old enough, you remember where you were when JFK was shot. Unless you live in a cave with no tv or radio or internet, you remember exactly what you were doing on 9-11. Do you remember where you were or what you were doing when these other historical events happened?

~~When Ronald Reagan was shot?

I was in the fourth grade and I THINK we were on spring break. I remember laying on the couch at my grandma's house in TN watching the footage. I remember being aware of what was going on, and being intrigued with the weird guy they arrested, but not much else.

~~When the Challenger Exploded?

I was in freshman algebra in high school. Mr Bartlett was my teacher and I remember the teacher from the class next door coming in to tell Mr. B who relayed it to us. We didn't have TVs to watch so we relied on the teachers to keep us informed during the day. I remember watching it over and over on the news and seeing that same smoky formation and just being incredibly sad. EVERYONE knew who Christa McAuliffe was, of course. I remember thinking that she was probably a really cool teacher.

~~When the Persian Gulf War began?

I was 8+ months pregnant and I was getting my hair cut and permed. The radio was on in the salon when the "official announcement" was made. I remember laying in bed a lot of nights watching the news footage.

~~During the Rodney King riots?

I was a new mother. I think Brianna was just a couple of months old, if that. I just remember watching all the footage in awe.

~~The Waco, Texas standoff?

I was at home with my two-year-old and also my 6 week old niece for whom I babysat every day. I watched it all unfold on the news, of course. I just remember thinking how very bizarre it all was.

With the way news coverage has changed over the years, can you IMAGINE what it would have been like if these things had happened after 2001?

Blown kisses
Bubba has been out of town since last Friday. It's driving the kids crazy. They miss him a lot. He's the favorite parent. I am well aware.

I was on my MySpace today and I have a slide show thingie on there. It has photos of the kids and Bubba, of course. Jameson saw the pictures and came running. When a photo of Bubba came up, he kissed his hand and touched the screen. I said, "What are you doing?" He said, "I miss Daddy!" Every time a picture of Bubba came up after that, he blew kisses.

And then I melted into a pool right on my computer chair.

Come home, Bubba. We miss you!!

Appetite for destruction
I have had no appetite for 2 days now. That does not happen to me. Ever. I can't figure it out.

I guess it can be good and bad. Good because I am not eating everything in sight. Bad because not eating enough calories is not conducive to losing weight.

Frustrating.

The mom?
I think I mentioned at some point that Bubba would be out of town all week. That means that I had to take the week off work to actually do all the stuff he does..like raise our children. Er..I mean, take the kids to and from school, do laundry, and *GASP!*....COOK!

Bubba is Mr. Social Butterfly wherever he goes. Everybody remembers him or already knows him or soon will. He was like that in high school, too. While I did have my own set of friends back then, EVERYBODY else knew me as "Bubba's girlfriend" or "Bubba's lady" or the MOST excellent and highly feminine, "Bubba-ette." (I'm not even kidding.) For as long as we've been married, (17 years) I've pretty much been known as "Bubba's wife." Sure, some people that know him actually remember my name, but I am pretty much forgettable and/or invisible everywhere I go. (I think that is why I am sort of outgoing on my blog and MySpace and stuff, but that is a different post.)

Bubba does the volunteering at the kids' schools because I work during the day. He's, of course, in his element and all the other parents know him and love him. At Jameson's school, he's the ONLY male volunteer. All the moms are jealous and in awe and "ha ha ha, I wish MY husband was like you!" and "Boy, your wife is lucky!" When we went to the fall festival a few weeks ago, several of those moms saw me and said things like, "Oh, so you're the lucky one!"

Today, I went in to pick up Jameson (and I looked like holy crapoly) and I was standing there waiting for him to get his backpack and coat. As I stood, I saw one of the other moms looking at me. She then pointed at me and said to Jameson's teacher, "The mom?" What the heck? Rude! The teacher confirmed and the mom said, "Oh, I just always see Bubba." Still not addressing me. Rude. And then she walked out of the class.

I probably wouldn't have minded all that much had she not been one of the ones who met me at the fall festival.

Was that rude? Am I being too sensitive? Gah...I guess I should have just said, "Listen, be-otch, I have a name!" But, that is just not me.

We're the Doodlebops, oh yeah!
Bubba just called from KY. He met the Doodlebops in the hotel elevator.

Word verification
I'm sorry, you guys. I HAD to turn word verification back on for commenting. I tried to hold out as long as I could, but the spam is now out of control. I KNOW how much everyone hates deciphering those letters, but I can't take the spam any longer.

I can't watch or I'll throw up!
OMG, this Colts/Pats game is making me so nervous. I can't stand to watch. Ok, I'm watching. No, I can't. Ok, I have to.

I love my Colts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whew! Wow! What a game! The Pats did it but it was a good game. Very exciting! I love Peyton and the boys.
And, I didn't throw up!!
And I didn't even get to sleep in
There was an "extra" hour of sleep I could have gotten because of "falling back" but I still had to set my alarm to get up. Had to bathe the children for church and then head out to continue in the moving of my aunt to her new place. Not how I wanted to spend a weekend, but what can you do?
Bubba is still in KY and won't be back until next weekend. I miss him like crazy. And NO, not just because now I have to cook and do laundry and run the kids around. Shut up.
Ok, I gotta run and get a couple of things done before the Colts/Patriots game. Hopefully, we'll clean the field with Brady!! GO COLTS!!!
Slow and steady?
By the way, I lost what I had gained last week...plus .8lbs. Why does it have to be so slooooooow? I know, I know, it's healthier this way. I still want it to be faster. I just want to hit 10 lbs.
Speaking of 10 lbs, Brianna has lost 10.8!
The degree of filth I encountered is beyond comprehension
I'm not very good when it comes to housework. You all know that Bubba does most of it, anyway. Our house is almost always tidy but you can't necessarily eat off the floors, ya know? Not every day, anyway.
I don't much care how other people keep house. As long as I don't step in animal excrement or see roaches scurrying around, I'm good. Clutter? I get it. I don't mind if other people's houses are cluttered. Seeing clutter means they have a life.
Well, I have this aunt who has gone beyond the realms of clutter and dirt. This aunt of mine has lived in the same apartment for 30+ years. It's an upstairs house apartment. The house itself is VERY old and run down in a really bad neighborhood.
Now, I am going to tell you some things that are embarrassing, frustrating and depressing all wrapped up into one shiny package. The aunt I'm talking about is a pack rat to the nth degree. We all have kind of known this forever, but hadn't really SEEN the evidence. We knew that she had bought hundreds of Beanie Babies, Boyd's Bears, dolls and books and who knows what else.
The apartment this aunt lives in has steep, outside stairs leading to it which are dangerous in the winter and just plain scary all the time. It has no air-conditioning so it was sweltering hot in the summer. It has old and/or bad wiring so she can't plug much into outlets. As my aunt has aged we have suggested, begged, and pleaded for her to move. To no avail.
A year or so ago, my cousin started helping the aunt clean stuff out of her apartment. Cousin told us how bad the apartment was. I guess you just don't want to believe something like that unless you actually see it.
6 months ago, the electric got cut off at her place. (she didn't have to pay, the landlord...er, slumlord, took care of utilities.) She couldn't get answers from the new owners of the house. No electric. For. Six. Months. She hasn't had water for a long time, either. Hence everyone trying to make her move. She was stubborn and refused.
Fast Forward to today. There is more to the back story, but she finally signed papers for a new apartment in a nice apartment complex here in town. So, that means we have to help her move. We meaning family and one of her good friends. She's never been married nor has she had kids.
I spent the day helping her and we've barely scratched the surface. Which, you wouldn't want to scratch the surface for fear of catching some strange disease.
In the days previous, my aunt and her friend had cleared out 70 trash bags full of trash. Newspapers, papers of all kinds, empty drink cups, etc. That's right, I said SEVENTY. I am not exaggerating as I saw them with my own two eyes.
When I looked in the front door for the first time today, I was in shock. Visible dirt and dust everywhere. Big, thick dirty cobwebs hanging everywhere on everything. Pieces of ceiling falling in every room. (that I could see without actually going all the way in.) And stuff! The "stuff" is piled EVERYWHERE. There's a particular alcove-ish like thing when you first walk in. Sacks and clothes and stuff piled six feet high and 5 feet deep. I am not joking. There were boxes and boxes of books. Bags with books in them. Clothes everywhere. Sacks of yarn and fleece. (she knits and makes fleece blankets.) Bills and papers and dirt..my GOD the dirt! I can't even adequately describe the filth. But, if this tells you anything, I wore latex gloves all day. It was that bad.
I remember when I was little, probably 6 or 7, and my cousin and I would stay all night with her. We'd make homemade pizza and drink Coke from bottles. We thought her place was so cool. Somewhere along the way, she stopped letting anyone into her apartment. That must be when it started getting bad.
How did someone in my family turn into this pack-rat bag lady of a person?? (her personal hygiene is questionable as well. That's a whole other post.) Why did she allow her home to get that way? Why did she continue to stay there? Why didn't she ask for help before now? Why? Why? Why? I wish I knew all the answers.
It's hard to hit the publish button right now. These kinds of things, well, they are the stuff of skeletons in the closet for some families.
What did he just say?
I actually heard some say the word 'balderdash' today. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Who uses that word?
I think I'll start using that word. Maybe in place of 'No way!'
"What? Britney Spears flashed her panty-less va-jay-jay again? Balderdash!"
See? That works, don't ya think?
Let's start a Balderdash revolution!
The usual November 1st post
I couldn't let a November 1st go by without sharing Halloween photos!
The Cupcake and the Crayon
Yes, indeed. Those are the masterpiece costume creations made exclusively by Bubba. Does he totally rock, or what?? But, I must say, that "crayola" looks pretty dang good. Guess who colored that? Guess! ME! That's right! The costume wouldn't have been the same without it, right?
All 3
Yes, Brianna dressed "80s." She was so excited because the boyfriend did, too. He wore two shirts, collars up, with jeans and Chucks. As 80s as he could be on short notice. Here's a photo of them together. It's really dark, but you can sorta see the 80s-ish-ness of their "costumes."
No good halloween stories to tell this year. We encountered no rabid parents or obnoxious kids. We didn't even see very many good costumes. After about an hour and a half, the kids were pretty much done. We headed over to Brianna's boyfriend's house where they were roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and they were not interested in any more candy. Crazy kids. When I was little, we kept going until the last possible minute to get as much candy as we could. Ahhh, the good old days, huh?
And so it begins...Nablopomo
I mentioned it about a week ago and I asked for ideas for filling up my month of daily blogging for Nablopomo. You guys didn't help me out, so you are stuck with what randomly comes out of my brain. This could be scary!
Luckily, MissZoot has a daily writing prompt that she is posting and sharing with the masses. That may help me when I get stuck for something to write.
Ok, so this post is really a nothing post, but I wanted there to be something here signifying the beginning of Nablopomo.
Happy November, y'all!
PS Drillah, thank you. YOU are the only one to even come close to helping me out with ideas. :)
