How can he have been married to ME for 18 years and do THIS?
Bubba went to Florida for a week. Here are the two photos that exist of him actually being in Florida.

Note the palm trees which is proof, I guess.

Have I not taught him a thing about taking pictures? Not that I am ever in photos, but I'm just sayin'!

Happy Birthday, Bubba!

Thirteen Things I Love About My Husband (who turned 36 today)

Bubba's birthday is today so I thought I'd do a TT to honor him.

1)The crinkles around his eyes when he smiles.
2)His goatee.
3)The ability he has to stay organized. (I do not possess this ability much to his chagrin.)
4)His rockin' cooking skills!
5)The gray he's getting in his goatee and chest hair. Sex-ay!
6)He is the resident bat catcher, mouse trap setter, spider killer, drain hair/goop getter outer, trash taker outer and any other dirty job doer. And he doesn't complain. Though garbage water/spilled garbage makes him gag.
7)He takes his role as a dad very seriously.
8)His head when it's just shaved. It's smooth as a baby's butt. Even though I love his hair, I do like his bald, too.
9)His laugh when he is laughing really hard. You can't help but laugh, too.
10)The fact that he is giddy about the new Knight Rider that's coming out. Now he can't make fun of me and my obsessions!
11)He still finds me attractive after all these years (and pounds).
12)Every once in a while, I find an 'I love you note' in the car written on a napkin or gum wrapper or something. I know he thinks about me.
13)The stuff that goes on behind closed doors. ;)

Yeah, I kinda love him.

I survived Bubba's time away--Or How I Spent My November Vacation
"I could not be a single mother."

That is what I told Bubba on the phone a few days ago while he was out of town. Yes, I am somewhat dramatic at times, but I was dead serious when I said it. In reality, well, I COULD be a single mother, I just wouldn't like it much. Same goes for being a stay-at-home mom. Uh-uh. Not for me.

Much to Bubba's surprise, we all survived Mommy having to take care of things. I cooked. Perhaps they were simple meals, but I did cook. I kept the house fairly clean. I did laundry. I got the kids to and from school on time. I even bathed them every day. (thank goodness Brianna can take care of herself. hee) We managed just fine, thank you.

I did miss Bubba like crazy. We haven't been away from each other for a whole week in quite a while. I think Brianna was about 3 years old the last time. I went on vacation with my parents and sisters that year to North Carolina. It was the same year as the OJ Simpson Murder thing. We watched the Bronco chase on tv.

Anyway, nothing much happened during the whole week he was gone. He got home Friday morning at around 11-ish so he got to surprise the kids when we picked them up from school. Jameson came RUNNING and Bubba had to fight the tears. He's such a softie. When we picked Braelyn up, Jameson and I went up to the doors to get her. She said, "When is Daddy going to be home?" I said, "I don't know. Hopefully soon!" We walked back to the van and it took her a couple of seconds to realize Bubba was sitting inside. She was just as excited as Jameson.

Friday night, we ate out at Ryan's. I was very good despite all the bad-for-me stuff on the buffet. I did, however, splurge and had one of their delicious buttery rolls. Mmmm....

Why am I giving you a play-by-play? Jeez...boring.

Oh, but thank goodness Bubba came home when he did. Jameson saw a mouse in the laundry room and we've now caught 2 mice. Yuck! I do NOT do mousetraps. I'd just move.

Naked lip
I totally forgot all about this!

Last week, Bubba was shaving and trimming his goatee and had a major OOPS. He shaved right into the side of his goatee and so he had to fix it. He had to shave it all down to a 1 on the clippers.

No big deal, you say? Ah, but you have no idea. I have not seen this man's upper lip in like..19 years!!

Needless to say, it was a total freak-out when he came to show me. Seriously, he did NOT look like the same person. AT ALL. I could barely look. It was kind of like when they came out with green ketchup, my brain COULD. NOT. COMPUTE.

And for the first time in my life, maybe second, I missed that Kodak moment. Now, it's growing back quickly and the effect would be lost. So, use your imagination.

Just don't ask him to kiss you. That stuff HURTS!

The Father's Day Post--better late than never
I couldn't let today end without the obligatory Father's Day post.

I don't talk about my dad a whole lot here on the blog, but I thought I would show you guys a couple of my favorite photos of me with my dad when I was little. I had a great childhood and I just remember that my dad could do anything. At least I thought he could. He worked hard to take care of us and when we ever had any kind of financial problem, I never knew it. Life was good and I had a daddy who took care of me and protected me always. He's changed a lot over the years, but one thing remains the same, he would do anything in the world for me or one of my sisters.

How cute are we? This is in Tennessee at my grandparents' house.

I love this one. We were at King's Island and Dad is wearing the KI hat that I had to have but then didn't want to wear. Awesome.

Daddy holding me up so I could 'swim.'

The other dad in my life, my husband, of course deserves mention. We became parents young and even though it took him a while to fully grow up (and probably me, too), he has always taken being a father seriously. He is proud of his kids and loves them more than anything else. Plus, he's now been a stay-at-home dad for almost a year and a half and because of this, I can go to work every day and not worry for one minute that my kids are being taken care of. He's a great father and I couldn't have asked for more.

A whole new me! (plus, It's just not fair)
I just don't know what to do with this beautiful new blog look. I just stare at it and it doesn't even feel like mine. (GOD, woman! It's just a new blog template, get over it!)

So, now I feel like a whole new blogger. Problem is, my BRAIN doesn't know that. I totally want to blog like Y or Amalah or Zoot or Dooce or about 50 others. I want to have witty things to say about EVERYTHING. I want to post that perfect post that makes the reader think, laugh and cry and say, "Hmmmm" all at the same time. I go through blogging envy every once in a while. I just have to face facts..I do not have a writing style like that. Plus, I do not have a life about which I can blog. That makes a HUGE difference, don't ya think?

Ok, on to bigger things. Last week, Bubba (who does all the grocery shopping AND cooking in our house) decided he was not going to buy any more junk. He bought fruit (we all VAGUELY remembered what a piece of fruit looked like) and yogurt and healthy cereals and chicken and NO FRICKIN' CHOCOLATE. He's been cooking different chicken recipes and there's a small McDonald's ban around here.

All this started on MONDAY. Last Monday, the 30th of April. On THURSDAY, which was 4 days later, FOUR (did you get that? F-O-U-R) he was already down a belt notch and his freakin' clothes were already starting to get too big. Did you hear me? After 4 flippin' days he had lost enough weight to notice!!

I hate him.

Boy got MAD culinary skills skillz

Bubba rocks, no? This is the cake he made for the big "CUBEGATING" party at work. It is Colts KA-RAZEE at work and all over Indiana right now. We've had spirit week at work...hat day, boot day (to stomp out those Bears. cheesy? Why yes it was...)etc... Tomorrow is Blue Day...AKA wear-as-much-blue-as-you-can-without-getting-fired-day. I'll be donning my brand spankin' new Colts shirt. You know you are jealous.

My poor Braelyn is sick. I got home from work and she was burning with fever. She'd been lying down sleeping since she got home from school. I gave her meds and a shower and then she threw up all over the floor in the living room. She was so ready for bed and just a short time ago woke up puking again. Needless to say, she won't be going to school tomorrow.

Watched most of Open Season earlier and I must say that Gary Sinise rocks that movie as the crazy hunter! (I could be a little biased since he is my favorite actor EVAH!) The whole movie is really funny. I highly recommend it to the two of you who haven't seen it yet. I am always months late at seeing movies.

I forgot that I was supposed to fill you in on my nerdy mom-ish-ness. There are visual aids that go along with that so that will have to wait until tomorrow because I don't feel like taking photos right now.

Nighty night, y'all!

800!
As I signed onto my blogger dashboard today, (because, yeah, it's time I posted a little something) I realized that this is my 800th post! Yay me! Had I been a consistant blogger, I would probably have many many more than that, but really, who's counting? Apparently not me because I can't even remember the last time I looked at that number.

Jaw update. Still stuck. Any volunteers to yank my bottom jaw down as hard as you can to see if that works?? (shut up, pikkel, I wasn't asking YOU) I'm sure I would scream as if being murdered, but if it meant I could fully yawn, brush ALL of my teeth and also eat foods that are larger than a flat pea, then, hey, bring it on!!

It's winter guard season again and yesterday was the first competition. Brianna's guard got third place in their class. Their show is way cool AND incorporates HOOCHIE boots at one point. NOT for Brianna, but for one girl in the show. It's pretty awesome since they are high school students. High school girls and any kind of hoochie-wear is just awesome on a stick!

All of my cameras, film and digital, need batteries so I was not able to take one photo which is just against my religion. I can't go to any event and not take at least 30 pictures! I did, however, have my video camera. No photos, but video. That will do. In a pinch.

It's 12 degrees outside right now. I'm pretty sure it is 11 degrees in my house. I'm fixin to turn the heat up to about 78 or so...gas bill be damned!!

I haven't seen Bubba since 8am on Friday. He won't be home for another 5 or so hours. The kids are losing their minds wondering "WHEN WILL DADDY BE HOME???" You can see who the favorite is around here, huh? Oh, you wonder where Bubba has been? (oh, you KNOW you were) He's been in Missouri for the annual umpire..thing. (so informative, I am)

Armed & Famous has been...cancelled..or pulled..or whatever..and now I am sad. No more hometown shenanigans for the world to see. *sigh* Oh yeah, my official Ponch sightings for the duration they were in town. ZERO. That sucked.

Did anyone else see Friday Night Lights this past week? Is it just me, or is Coach Taylor getting even more beautiful every week? (along with Riggins, but he is a minor and that makes me dirty, so I try to ignore that bad boy and his long messy hair...ahem..)

It's all about the eyes. Or the tongue. Whatever.

Seriously, aren't the Taylors just as cute as they can be? Also, I am praying for the day that little Mattie Saracen will somehow grow a back bone and speak his mind without stammering. Bless his little heart. Also? I am pretty much convinced that Lyla Garrity, one-did not come from parents who look like that, and two-has a condition which makes her head stay tilted to the right at all times.
Man, I love that show!!

Now, how was THAT for an 800th post?? Could I have rambled all over the place any more? I think not.

Toodles.

PS No word from The Biggest Loser, yet. As if.
