A year-end meme
If you want to do this one, too, all you have to do is go to your archives from the year and post the first sentence of your first post for each month. Fun, huh?

January: "Mushy stuff, mushy stuff...blah blah blah...Have a great 2007!!" (The usual New Year's Day post.)

February: "Jaw update...I know I keep talking about it, but imagine for a moment how very frustrating it is for someone who likes to eat can't enjoy food anymore. (there is something very grammatically wrong with that sentence but I am too tired to fix it)" (A post about my painful jaw and the Colts, among other things.)

March: "I couldn't blog my thoughts here last night as I had to blog for my boy, Slim, over at IDOLBLOGLIVE because he had to work." (a brief AI post.)

April: "I have found my voice!" (about getting our computer back from "the shop."

May: "Ok, so I got my big Tennessee vacation travel guide (FREE!) in the mail a few days ago." (hoping for a vacation)

June: "I know everybody hates video posts, but this one is pretty funny." (a video of my kids)

July: "Jeremy was pimpin' at church today." (that was the entire post.)

August: "Not only am I having a FAT day, I also just realized that I have a spot on my shirt." (a bad day)

September: "The zoo has been visited." (The zoo aftermath.)

October: "This isn't a great photo but it has a little story." (a zoo story)

November: "I mentioned it about a week ago and I asked for ideas for filling up my month of daily blogging for Nablopomo." (nablopomo, obviously)

December: "Did any of you read Flat Stanley when you were little?" (The Flat Stanley Project.)

So, yeah, I get more boring as the years go by. But I have fun doing it!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Put your mittens in, put your mittens out...
So, on Christmas Eve, Brianna spent the evening driving around town looking for icing for the cookies we were leaving out for santa. Literally all over town. NOTHING but Village Pantry and Wal-greens was open. Neither had icing. (frosting..whatever you choose to call the stuff) Neither had powdered sugar so we could make our own. FINALLY she went back to her boyfriend's grandma's house, where she started, and got a can of icing that she had. We are nothing if not prepared.

Anyway, in the meantime, we waited. And watched the 35th showing (in a row) of "A Christmas Story" on TBS. The kids were dying to open their one Christmas Eve present (pjs, of course, like every year), but we had to wait for sissy to get home with the much sought after icing.

Here are a couple of videos of the partying that occurred while we waited. First up is Jameson doing... The SNOWkey Pokey! (I did edit this video to be right side up, but blogger won't post it like that. Just turn your head to the side and it should be fine. hee)

I particularly like the collapse at the end, don't you?? That's my boy.

Next up is a rousing rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, complete with Bubba NOT helping any. You'll see. Please disregard the camera person singing along. She's all out of tune and stuff...

Brianna finally made her way home WITH ICING! The kids opened their Christmas Eve pjs and then iced and sprinkled the cookies and headed upstairs to sleep in big sister's room.

I managed to only stay up until about 1am wrapping presents. This is good considering I almost always stay up until well past 3 getting the last of the wrapping done.

It was a fun Christmas Eve.

If I go missing, at least they'll know my EXACTstats

Or so said the weather forecasters on Friday. The snow would start at noon on Saturday and last until sometime on Sunday. Of course this caused turmoil in the Wal-mart, but that is a different post.

Saturday morning, Brianna and I trudge to Weight Watchers for the 8:30 meeting. (It turned out well for us both. Again, another post.) At around 9am, the leader looked out the windows and said, "Oh, it's coming down!" The snow had started, but 3 hours early!

No big deal. We just needed to run to K-mart (It's closest to Weight Watchers. I guess technically, Target is closest but I can't afford Target. I be poor.)We only needed a couple of things so we wouldn't be out in the mess for long.

So, we're in line and ready to buy our odd combination of things (canola oil, feminine products and Christmas cards. Hey, isn't that a MacGyver episode?)and I think, 'Hey, I'm close to the BMV and they are open today." See, my license had expired on my birthday and I hadn't yet found the time for THAT particular time of fun. For 3 weeks, minus a day, I had been driving ILLEGALLY! *GASP* I know. I'm a rebel. Bad ass. That's me.

But wait! What if they ask me for my birth certificate or a lock of hair from my 2nd born child? I didn't have that stuff on me. So, I called Bubba, made him call the license branch and call me back. Turns out, I need nothing but the old license and I had that! So, off to the BMV we went. Illegally. (and by this time, the van was COVERED in snow. Whee.) With unwashed hair AND no make-up, too. Bonus!

I have never in my life had such an easy time ANYWHERE than I did on Saturday at the BMV. My total transaction time was 3 min and 58 seconds plus about a 30 second wait for my license. What a great way to spend $24 flippin' 50! Despite that whole no make-up thing, the photo turned out decent. That is saying a lot, too. I am about as unphotogenic as they come.

Anyway, for the first time in my entire life, the weight on my license matches my actual weight. Well, until Saturday, at least, when I hope to be down another pound or two. (Why I didn't round down is beyond me.) So, if I come up missing between now and Saturday, the police will know EXACTLY how much I weigh.

Only my son...

That would be toothpaste in my son's hair. In the BACK of his head. HOW did this happen??

"I couldn't get the toothpaste out," he said.

"How were you squeezing it, buddy?"

"Like this!"

Please send cards
Sometimes, blogging seems so impersonal, ya know? I've "met" people through blogging that I consider true friends, but sometimes email and the computer screen just gets...well..old.

So, anyway, I was just thinking that I'd like to send a few Christmas cards to some of my favorite online people. But, I hate asking for real addresses because...weird. Some people are funny like that. Me, I'm NOT funny that way. I'll just pass out my real address willy nilly so, you know, if you want to stalk me, just ask.

Now, I KNOW you want a Christmas card from me! I might even stick a weird photo or two inside. Bonus! Let me know in comments or send me an email. (angiedbATgmailDOTcom)

Um, please, at least ONE person be interested or else I will wallow in despair because no one likes me.

Merry Christmas!!!

Flat Stanley is cool!
Did any of you read Flat Stanley when you were little? I LOVED that book!

Not long ago, over at Lucky Lady's, I saw that she had a photo of her grandson with Flat Stanley! A 3rd grade class in Illinos colored some Flat Stanley's and sent them out on "field trips." They are hoping that Stanley will make it to all 50 states.

Stanley has been doing things with my kids like decorating the Christmas tree and going to guard practice with Brianna. We've been documenting his endeavors on the camera and we will send a letter and the photos on to the class in Illinois.

Now, this is where you come in. Our time with Stanley is over and I need to get him moving on to another state. He's been to Tennessee and California and now Indiana. Would YOU like to participate in the Flat Stanley project? He needs a new state to visit ASAP! If you'd like him next, comment and let me know. Be sure I have your email address so I can get your real address from you. Or, you can just email me at angiedbATgmailDOTcom (substituting the correct symbols, of course).

HERE is an example Stanley shot I captured over the weekend. Suffice it to say, we WON'T be including that particular picture when we send the letter and photos back to the school. hee
