Grace defined
I mentioned that I've been exercising, right? Last night, I chose to walk instead of doing the work-out DVD. Walking KILLS my legs after a short time, but only the muscles on the outside of my lower legs just above the ankle. It feels like how people describe shin splints, only it's not my shins.

Anyway, I had been walking for about 26 minutes (not 25...not 27) and was about past going (as my mom says) barely trudging along and heading for home. I was listening to music so I couldn't hear much, but then I thought I heard a bike coming up behind me. I was ready to cross the trail and step off to head across the field to go home. I turned my head to look at about the same time my feet and body were turning left to cross the trail. I sort of did a double take and there WAS a bike. Not sure what happened but my feet tangled or my ankle twisted or something and I FELL! It was like slow motion but I couldn't stop the downward motion of my body..and there was nothing to grab onto. I can only imagine how I looked to the biker that I was trying to avoid.

Well, I went down hard on my knee and elbow. I was holding my mp3 player and it scraped on the pavement. My face proceeded to turn about 10 shades of red and the guy on the bike stopped and said, "Are you alright?" All I could say was, "I'm ok." and then pray that he would ride on. He did! I was just glad it was an old guy and not one of those fit bikers who are all Lance Armstrong-like. I got up and looked around to see who else may have seen. Nobody! Thank goodness! I made it home with little pride and road rash on my knee.

That, my friends, is gazelle-like grace.

Edited to add a photo, a few days post-fall. See? It's not so bad.

It's not working
The fight with the FAT continues. I've been sort of watching what I eat lately because of that man I married who has lost more than 30 pounds and makes me sick. But, this week, I have 'gotten serious' for the 90 trillionth time in my life. I have started exercising, even.

It's killing me!

Yesterday, I was doing the Biggest Loser exercise DVD. Sweat! Burn! OUCH! My kids came in the room and were doing some of the moves with me. I can only imagine what I looked like to them at that time..all sweaty and red-faced and breathing like a woman in hard labor.

Jameson watched the tv, then looked at me. TV. Me. TV. Me. Finally, he said, "Mommy. I don't think it's workin'."

"Why not, buddy?" (only this was said, you know, in a breathy, jerky kind of I'm- dying-here, kind of way.)

"Cause your belly isn't going away."

Me = loss for words.

Braelyn saved me by saying, "Bubby! It's takes a LONG time!"

Gastric bypass, anyone?

American Idol Season Finale
Even though I slacked at posting about Idol this season (because, duh, no Taylor or Chris or Kat) and shut up because I know you are all happy. (except maybe my girl, Tara)I HAVE been blogging about the show a little. I haven't blogged much here because I hang out HERE on show nights. I also live blog the results shows over there for Slim.

If you need me, I'll be live blogging the show for the last time this season over THERE.

Later taters!

On the kick drum
I mentioned in that last pathetic excuse for a post that I managed to do pretty much nothing over the weekend. That is not entirely true.

I managed to read a book. In it's entireity. From beginning to end! That's 4 whole books now for the year. I rock. In a slightly sad sort of way, but I'll take what I can get these days in the 'rockin' category.

I also painted my toenails AND my fingernails, which I rarely ever do. I feel kinda girly today because of it.

side note: How much does Blogger rock now that they do the whole draft auto-save thing? Hey, some of you may hate blogger, but I personally love it and all it's free-ness.

I also managed to watch "The Lake House" 3 times and "The Break Up" a couple of times. (Baby wanted 12 lemons.)

Now? I can not get this out of my head... "Come come. On the kick drum. Come come. Now, Gary. On the kick drum. Come come." I mean I can NOT get that out of my head. All morning long at work, out of the blue, into my head pops, "Come come!" Now, if you haven't seen the movie or forget the scene, you won't get the whole rhythm and why that is stuck in my head. If you HAVE seen it, I hope that I have now put it into YOUR head for the rest of the day. If it is NOT sufficiently in your head, just click HERE.

I'm here for you guys.

Monday?!?! Where did the weekend go?
Jeez...it's back to work already? I did absolutely nothing to speak of all weekend, hence the whole no blogging thing. Plus, nobody showed up for margaritas on Friday. Where WERE you??

Have a good one.

Bore ya, later!

Random shizz
Is it Friday yet?

I'm getting a headache.

Idol was quite boring last night. Melinda or Jordin should win. I like it when Simon is in a good smiley mood. He was kind of like that last night, except for once I didn't really agree with his opinions. Who cares, though?

My husband totally rocks the crockpot chicken cooking. Left-overs rule!

I have to pee, but the bathroom is like, WAY over there. I have to turn left twice AND then make a right! Not worth it.

Never start a diet life style change when you are getting ready to/have started/are within 28 days of starting your monthly visit from Aunt Bitch. Just sayin'.

Recent question from my 4 year-old. "Mommy. When somebody has a baby in she's belly, when she eats food, does the baby get dirty?" And then I died from cuteness overload.

Note to self: Save money to buy Bubba his OWN mp3 player. The crap on our shared one is, at times, scary. We used to kind of like the same stuff. Yeah, not so much anymore.

TV NEWS Big news for ME. Friday Night Lights was picked up again for next season!! Seriously, this made me do the Balki/Cousin Larry dance of joy!! Lost, DH and Grey's are all jealous because of my love for FNL. Give me Coach and Mrs. Taylor, Landry, Matt Saracen, Riggins, and even gross and creepy Buddy Garrity ANY day over...wait for it...McDreamy, Wisteria Lane and even..well, ok, maybe NOT Lost and all the yummy Sawyer that goes with it.

Oh, speaking of "wait for it..." I loved the way How I Met Your Mother ended for the season. I am SOOO flippin happy that Robin and Ted broke up. They were on my last nerve with their commplete lack of chemistry. Plus, we already know the "mother" is not Robin, so move along. Barney: "It will be legend..wait for it..." fade to black. I love Barney aka Swarley!

Big Brother is coming!!! July. I am so there.

Survivor China should be interesting. (I'm glad Earl won this past week. If not Yau, then Earl was ok.)

Is that Pirate reality show going to be cheesy? Probably. Will I watch. Probably. I live for cheesy tv.

Mmmm..cheese. I'm hungry.

Mother's Day
I hope all the mothers who happen by had a wonderful day today! It was a good day here. That picture over there is the card my oldest gave to me. It was perfect because we always joke about that episode of Family Guy where Stewie is trying to get Lois' attention and keeps saying, "Mama, Ma, Mommy..." etc. She also got me some pedicure stuff because she says I am, "freakishly obsessed with my feet." If by 'freakishly obsessed' she means that I try to make them halfway presentable when I wear sandals or flip-flops, then, yes, I guess I am. We won't even speak about what HER feet look like.

From Braelyn, I got a tiny little plant of some kind that they got at school and they also decorated a cup to put the plants in. She also colored a "Best Mom" certificate. It totally made me cry because she sounded out my first and middle names and it is just the cutest thing.

From Bubba, I got my Flickr pro account renewal and from Bubba and Jameson, I got Curve Wave perfume. Plus, Jameson signed his own name on my card all by himself.

It's the little things.

Here's that clip of Stewie.

Here's the Terrific Mom Award from Braelyn. (it's crooked, but I can't get it to scan straight)

PS I am watching the final tribal council on Survivor right now and as usual it's ridiculous and uncomfortable. It's full of a bunch of BITTER jury members who are just mad because they got kicked off and didn't make it to final council. Lisi is just a psycho crazy person. Alex has completely lost it. What is all the anger toward Cassandra?? Why do they ALL forget that they ALL have to lie and back stab to get to the end? And finally, WHEN oh WHEN are these people who get to be on Survivor going to learn from every other season and realize that INTEGRITY ...real world INTEGRITY has absolutely nothing to do with this freaking game!! Ok, I'm done now.

PPS I HATE final 3 instead of final 2.

Inspiration
The kindergartener's homework was to write two sentences about your mom or things you like to do with your mom. Also, there was a spot to draw a picture. One of the sentences said, "We like to watch American Idol." That by itself is not so bad. Because, yes. Yes we DO in fact like to watch American Idol. But the picture.

"Look mommy, it's you at the computer!"

Oh, yes, nice.

Cry.

I think I feel kind of like my mom did when I was in pre-school and we had to do something similar. I said, "My mom cooks green beans and watches her stories." Mom was mortified. Hey, at least I threw a green vegetable in there.

Guilted Inspired by that little illustration, I took the kids for a walk last night. OUTSIDE! In the fresh air! We have a trail called "Cardinal Greenway" that runs practically right by our front door. We never use it. So we got on the trail and walked for about a half hour or so. The kids had a blast and kept asking me if we were in the woods. That is kind of funny considering when I was little, I did get to play in the woods at my grandma's house in Tennessee. Woods that went on for acres and acres. These kids were on a paved trail between some brush and trees and they thought they were in the woods. We need to get out more.

Now, the kids wanted to keep going after I told them we had to head home. By this time, I was red-faced and sweaty because it was like 80 degrees and I had been walking at a pace that was JUST beyond standing still. Wouldn't you be red-faced, too? Yeah, I'm out of shape.

INTO THE WOODS

Look! Trees! Grass! Bushes! Dirt!

And flowers!

Home through the trees

A new breed?
Maybe a new species. Braelyn's kindergarten class went to a small local zoo yesterday for a field trip. Bubba went as a chaperone and took Jameson with him. They had a blast and were both trying to talk to me about it at the same time when I got home.

Funny thing was, they both told me about a real big "Canimal" they saw.

I think I want one.

Edited to add:

The Canimal.

Jaw
Hey, do you guys remember back when I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to yawn, or eat or brush my teeth or do other things that required a WIDE opened mouth?? Heck, couldn't even give Bubba a half-way decent kiss! If you don't remember, or if you are new here click HERE and HERE and HERE-complete with illustration!. That should give you an idea of my complete and utter frustration.

Well, I am happy to report that it only took a full 3 MONTHS but I can now open my mouth ALL. THE. WAY. I can eat a dang Subway sub if I want. I can brush every surface of every tooth in my mouth. I can eat a sucker. I can yawn. I can..I can..well, you get the idea. It took an additional 2 or 3 weeks AFTER I could open it all the way that all the pain in my jaw went away as well. Needless to say, I am one happy camper.

I would add a photo here, but really, who needs to see my gaping mouth in a blog post?

What is this, "make the bed" of which you speak??
Back in February, after the "New Carpet of 2007", the kids got new bunk beds. And when I say kids, I mean the two youngest because Brianna no longer counts. (kidding) Anyway, ever since then, they've just used mismatched sheets and pillow cases and whatever blanket they attached themselves to for that day. Finally, we got them proper bedding and I think I am more excited about it than they are. K-mart (yes, we still shop there, especially when they have good stuff in their ad--so shut it) had kids' character bedding on sale a couple of weeks ago. Now, I usually balk at character stuff because it gets old really fast, but I made an exception because, well, CHEAP! And K-mart still has LAYAWAY. (Wal-mart and I STILL have issues since they got rid of layaway. We're currently in group counselling for that..but, you know, whole other post. No layaway is also the reason why Target and I have never formed a lasting relationship.)

Bubba took the kids to pick out said bedding. Braelyn ended up with "That's So Raven" which is actually VERY pretty and doesn't have a gigantic head-shot of Raven Simone splashed across the comforter. Jameson, being the total boy that he is, got Batman.

Because I know you are dying to see them, here you go.

Braelyn's new bedding

Batman

Now, here is where the story gets good because it will give you and insight into my/our parenting skills and my domestic abilities.

I got home yesterday and the kids are super excited because Daddy put their new sheets and stuff on their beds. I told them that now, they'd have to make their beds every day since they have such nice sheets and comforters. Then Braelyn says to me with an extreme look of puzzlement on her face...

"Make our beds? Make? What does that mean?"

Awesome. We ROCK at teaching domestic chores!

In my defense, I never had to make my bed. Is that a valid defense? My mom was the housework General when it came to everything else, but we never had to make our beds. We just shut our bedroom door. :) When Bubba and I first got married, in our first house and then our apartment, we made our bed sometimes, but now, we NEVER make our bed. If you walk past our bedroom, you can't see our bed anyway, so if we can live with the mess, why bother?

Go ahead, comment away. I KNOW that most of you have perfect homes with perfectly made beds every day. Make fun of me at will.

A whole new me! (plus, It's just not fair)
I just don't know what to do with this beautiful new blog look. I just stare at it and it doesn't even feel like mine. (GOD, woman! It's just a new blog template, get over it!)

So, now I feel like a whole new blogger. Problem is, my BRAIN doesn't know that. I totally want to blog like Y or Amalah or Zoot or Dooce or about 50 others. I want to have witty things to say about EVERYTHING. I want to post that perfect post that makes the reader think, laugh and cry and say, "Hmmmm" all at the same time. I go through blogging envy every once in a while. I just have to face facts..I do not have a writing style like that. Plus, I do not have a life about which I can blog. That makes a HUGE difference, don't ya think?

Ok, on to bigger things. Last week, Bubba (who does all the grocery shopping AND cooking in our house) decided he was not going to buy any more junk. He bought fruit (we all VAGUELY remembered what a piece of fruit looked like) and yogurt and healthy cereals and chicken and NO FRICKIN' CHOCOLATE. He's been cooking different chicken recipes and there's a small McDonald's ban around here.

All this started on MONDAY. Last Monday, the 30th of April. On THURSDAY, which was 4 days later, FOUR (did you get that? F-O-U-R) he was already down a belt notch and his freakin' clothes were already starting to get too big. Did you hear me? After 4 flippin' days he had lost enough weight to notice!!

I hate him.

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t gotten around to it.

Tell me I'm beautiful!
Do you love it?? Doesn't it look GORGEOUS around here?? I am completely giddy over my new look.

A great big THANK YOU goes out to my bestest blog friend TARA!! She rocks! All I had to do was whine a little bit and voila! Not really, because it was actually her idea because she was sick of my bad blogging habits lately and she just wanted to motivate me to blog more often.

If you have a minute, go over to Tara's place and let her know what a great job she did.

Tennessee
Ok, so I got my big Tennessee vacation travel guide (FREE!) in the mail a few days ago. Now, who is going to help fund a vacation for me and Bubba for our anniversary in September? Huh? Anyone? Do I need to set a up a donation button?

PS The donation button? Joke. (kinda)

PPS Tennessee IS a vacation to me! I LOVE Tennessee
