What the H is this???
Someone go HERE and please tell me what that is. It's got a bunch of my posts listed (I know it has to do with "ficken", it's the price I pay for choosing the title I did..but that's old news) and I don't know what the heck it is. Is that a blog? I can't tell.

A couple of things
Literally, just a couple...

First, you couldn't pay me enough money to go see "Borat." Ok, that's not entirely true. I suppose I really WOULD go see it if someone offered me money to do so. However, I would NEVER spend my OWN money to see it in the theater OR at home. (I am loving random caps tonight.)

Second, I got some juicy tidbits of info about "Armed & Famous" from my friend the cop's wife. I'm too tired to get into it now, but all I will say at this point is that her husband IS going to be paired up with one of the celebs but they aren't sure which one yet. I am soooo living vicariously through her.

I had to work 8 to midnight tonight and now it is going on 2 am and I really need to get to bed because I have to go back to work at 8:30am. Suckage. If anyone watched The Biggest Loser tonight...DO NOT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED!! I haven't watched it yet.

One more day of NaBloPoMo and I think I have now developed blog posting as an everyday habit.(about dang time, huh? I've only had this thing for 2 years!) Aren't you all lucky??

'Night.

Where's Ponch?
Ponch sightings=big FAT zero
possible Jack Osborne(Osborn? Osbourne?) sightings=one (I THINK it was him, but I was too far away to take a picture.)

Here's a link to a photo gallery on our newspaper's website of the celebs doing their "training."

More later..but, if you are anywhere in Indiana and you would be willing to come to Muncie for a Bob Gentry concert, click the "DEMAND IT!" button on the post below. I want Bob to come to Muncie!

Pimp my ride Bob
You all know of my affection for one Mr. BOB GENTRY, right? I've mentioned him in numerous posts and me and MONTY scratch each others' eyes out and pull hair play-fight over him often. ANYway....Bob added this nifty thing on his blog where we can go to DEMAND HIM (as opposed to dominate him, but see, that's a whole other post...) By clicking on the Demand It! button, cities can show interest in having Bob and his band do a show there.

Um..OH. MY. GOSH.

Bob Gentry in MY TOWN?!?!? There are no words, people.

So, I'm gonna add that little button here. If you happen to be from anywhere NEAR my area (say, in the continental US) please click and demand him. Seriously, only click if you are from around here and would actually go to his show. :) THANKS BUNCHES!!

100, 000
At some point today, before noon, Ficken Chingers received it's 100,000th visitor...page load..what the heck ever. Because I am too cheap to spring for the bigger account over at StatCounter, I can't see who exactly that visitor was...so CONGRATULATIONS! It may have been YOU!!

In reality tv news...No Ponch sightings yet. YET. However, I did stalk drive by the hotel twice today. ON. THE. WAY. TO. WORK. Just because it is the long way to and from work means nothing. I needed a change of scenery. Reports state that LaToya failed the push-ups part of their training. This should make for some exciting tv, huh? It will probably be so embarrassing for our city, but you KNOW I will be glued to the tube.

In still OTHER reality tv news..THE AMAZING RACE ALL-STARS is coming! YAY! I love all star editions of my favorite shows like Survivor and Big Brother so, yeah, I'm liking the idea of TAR All-stars. Don't even ask me who I want on the show because I can barely remember anyone after a season ends. There are just too many couples. Just bring back my KY couple, Dave and Mary. They rock!

My Christmas tree is not up yet. Boo.

We got our official supervisor announcement today. I think the choice is pretty good as it is someone from within the company. She won't actually be in our department until after the first of the year. Let the stress continue.

Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson Lee Rock Ritchie are divorcing. Wow, I thought they'd be together FOREVAH!

Not.

At work, at the beginning of the year, we draw names for birthdays in our office. That way, we only buy for one person's birthday and we also bring a cake or something to help celebrate. So, today, I got my birthday bag o'goodies. Here's the lowdown...bag of Dove chocolates, a snowman decoration (he's adorable), a sudoku puzzle book (addictive!), 2 different "flavors" of handsoap from Bath & Body Works (citrus something and exotic coconut), christmas-y bowls and a wall calendar like this...

My co-worker, Carey, rocks!

I'm in the home stretch for NaBloPoMo. I can't believe I have managed to post every single day this month no matter how silly and mundane. I rock. I think this post makes 35, or so, posts this month. Go me.

Oh, and by the way, you'll be happy to know that my kids want to name any future dog that we may get either Spot or Lipstick. Gotta love that.

And that, children, is the end of tonight's post. Goodnight.

Seriously! Is this perfect for me, or what??
A reality show is coming to my town. A REALITY SHOW! That is what I'm all about, right? I watch too much tv and reality shows make up a chunk of that so it pretty dang cool that one will be filmed here in lil ole My Town, Indiana! No joke. It's all the talk in the newspaper and just this week the cast and crew moved into a big hotel downtown.

Supposedly, the show will be called, "Armed & Famous" and it is being produced by a former "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition" executive producer. The premise is pretty simple. A few B-list celebrities will become reserve police officers and the cameras will follow them on the job with the police. I can't imagine how exciting the footage will be since it is taking place in Muncie, Indiana, but, hey, stranger things have happened.

Who are the celebrities, you ask? I think the list has been narrowed down to these few...Erik Estrada (I freakin LOVED him when I was 9 years old!! Can you say, CHiPs?!?!?! Bubba thinks he should have to wear his CHiPs uniform. Ha), Jack Osborn of Ozzy Osborn's son fame (Brianna thinks that is pretty cool), Trish Stratus who used to be a wrestler, but I have no clue who she is, and that midget..er..little person..from Jackass. I don't know his name. Oh, and last but not least...LaToya Jackson! Wow...she is almost, if not as weird as her brother.

Cool thing is, I know a policeman. I work with his wife, and she said that he is possibly going to be teamed up with Jack Osborn. So, of course, I'll be calling in a favor so Brianna can maybe meet him. I'll let you know what happens.

PONCH!! From CHiPS!! Yeah...NOBODY wore a uniform like Ponch. Remember this music??

Here's a LINK to the latest story. We had heard that they were filming at city hall today so I guess this proves it. There's a photo accompanying the story if you care enough to click.

Seriously, I'm giddy over here. Call me crazy, I don't mind, because I agree. :)

P.S. GO COLTS!!

Idiot
Everybody's talking about this so I thought I'd throw my two cents in.

Michael Richards is an idiot...but...if the guy, or guys, that apparently were the target(s) of his tirade in that comedy club get ANY money for it...then I will know that the world has truly gone crazy.(of course I already KNOW the world has gone crazy..but..just sayin)

Yes, it was mean and pretty awful the way Michael Richards acted and he shouldn't have done it, but, guess what? Life sucks sometimes. We encounter mean and cruel idiots who may just hurt our feelings and insult our intelligence as well as offend us. Do we deserve money for that? Um, no. In my opinion, no. You chalk it up to life experience and you move on.

Instead of Michael Richards running around trying to play major clean up and trying to save face with the public, perhaps he just needs to contact those he offended and try to make a sincere apology. *shrug* Eh, I don't know. That probably won't work, but he should try.

In the mean time, I won't be able to watch Seinfeld, one of my most favorite shows EVER, the same again. *sigh*

36
Yes, it's my birthday. I'm 36 today. I don't know how I feel besides thankful and grateful to be alive. Do I feel old? Not particularly. I feel pretty much the same as I did when I was 26 except now I am fatter and I have more kids.

Here's what I am listening to as I type this...

Wanna know who shares my birthday?
  • Christina Applegate~she's a year younger than me. I certainly wish I looked like her!
  • Jory Husain~he was that guy who played 'Jawaharlal' on "Head of the Class." According to IMDB, he hasn't really done anything since 1991. At least not on tv or movies.
  • JFK, Jr~He had the best hair. Such a shame he died so young. Not just because of his hair.
  • Amy Grant~Whathisface's wife. She sings. He sings.
  • John Larroquette~He was so funny as Dan Fielding on "Night Court" and he was awesome on "The Practice" as a psycho.
  • Charles Starkwether~serial killer. Nice.
  • Gloria Steinem~Ugh.
  • Ricardo Montalban~WELCOME....to Fantasy Island!

Anyway, I was looking around for a birthday meme of some sort and I found where you can look up TIME magazine covers from any year. So, I thought I'd share a couple.
Here's the one from the week I was born. It's pretty cool because I LOVED Sesame Street when I was little. PRE-Elmo! I think SS is why I started reading at such a young age.

This one is cool, too, because I was a HUGE Charlie's Angels fan. My friends and I would fight over who got to "be" Jill. Nobody ever wanted to be Sabrina. This one is from 1976.

Well, I think that's it for my birthday post.

Send presents.

Picky eater
I made the kids' plates yesterday and sat them down on the table in front of them. Jameson informs me.."I don't like that, that, that, that and that."
I said, "Happy Thanksgiving..here, have a roll." The roll..it was the only thing he ate on his plate.

Seriously, he is the pickiest eater EVER. Believe me, in our family, that is highly unusual. We likes our food. But not Jameson. He barely eats. I'm very surprised that he ever has the energy to do anything. These days, his food obsession is popcorn. It's the only thing he eats. I am being ALMOST literal when I say that. Everything besides popcorn is "wucky." So, I pop him some popcorn and pop a vitamin in his mouth every day.

I'm not worried. I've been a mother long enough (15 years!!) to know that he will eat when he's hungry. Eventually. I mean he DID opt for oatmeal for breakfast yesterday and he ate all of it. Today, he ate cereal. WITH milk!

Yesterday, he came walking in the room holding a plate with a piece of cake on it. We asked him what he had. "Cake." "What kind of cake, bubby?" "Brown." He ate the heck out of that brown cake, though.

Everyone, enjoy your day and try not to eat too much...oh and try not to kill your families! :) Ok, it's almost time for the parade. Love you all!!

Things on my nerves today and lately
Work.

The standing ovations for EVERYBODY on the American Music Awards tonight. I mean, the standing O kinda loses it's "special-ness" once they've given one to Chamillionaire(?!) as well as Frank Sinatra. Just sayin.

Friday Night Lights was not on.(see item above.)

Noise.

How lately everything is "PHENOMENAL!" on tv and everywhere. People are using that word left and right when, really, is a salad phenomenal? Tasty, maybe. Appetizing, ok. Really effing good, alright. But phenomenal? Is that new top REALLY phenomenal? I'll give you pretty. Figure-flattering,even, but phenomenal? Come on. Reminds me of a couple of years ago when everybody on tv over used the word "amazing." Please, just stop.

Frickin' basketball season on tv. My husband will divorce me, but OH MY GOD Dickie V's voice is enough to make me gouge my eardrums out.

OJ Simpson.

All the flippin idiots who camped out waiting for the PS3 and/or were a part of the many stampedes across the country to get into the stores to try to get them. I barely have a life, but wow....GET A LIFE!

On another note, my girl Cristie mentioned how clean my refrigerator is...and I must say, that is ALL Bubba. So, big ups to Bubba and his fridge cleaning skills! Oh, and by the way, that photo in yesterday's post was a joke. Bubba and Brianna had been play fighting over her drinking all of "his" coke. I kinda didn't want everyone thinking we are THAT weird.

Oh, oh..did anyone see how GREAT Taylor Hicks looked on the AMAs?? Wow! and Yum!

Sad
On Monday I wrote about AT and GAC.

I am sad to say that GAC suffered a stroke and was pronounced brain dead. She passed away today.

I don't pretend to know them. I only know what I've read on their blog in the last few days. I just know that AT's experience has touched me. I suggest reading their story. You will never take your husband or wife for granted ever again.

Just throwing things out there
While talking to my sister on the phone earlier, I realized that I only have 2 YEARS until my 20 year high school reunion!! Is it possible to be in panic mode for 2 years?

Work is making me crazy. I need another vacation and I've only been back from vacation for 2 weeks! It's been a month and we still don't have a supervisor. We are doing ok without one, but I am just antsy to get the new supervisor named so we can start getting used to her/him and work on getting them trained in the things they need to know. As a "senior" in the office, it will be partially my job. I HATE training. I know how to do my job very well, but I am a terrible teacher. The next few months are going to drive me to drink.

Why do all the CSI guys and gals only use those little bitty flashlights? Turn on a dang light! That or pick yourself up one of those big old mag lights...just sayin..

I want a new blog look. Gotta save up some money and put Denise to work for me.

I've been in one of those moods lately. You know the one....I want, I wish, no fair...etc..

I can't decide what to do for Thanksgiving. Stay home or go to my parents and let them drive me crazy. Crazy will probably win.

Who watches Survivor? GO AITU!!!

I want a friend like Barney on How I Met Your Mother so I can call him Swarley. Did anyone see that episode?

Did you SEE Marty after he was kicked of The Biggest Loser?? WOW! I would post a photo but I am too lazy to look for one right now.

I have to be at work at 5 am. Why am I still up typing random thoughts??

See ya Friday.

NaBloPoMo
Well, here I am at the halfway point for NaBloPoMo and frankly, I can't believe I've posted every single day. I know that my posts haven't been..substantial or meaty..but that's not me, anyway. Y'all know me. I post photos and memes and one line posts, but, for me to have posted every single day, well, that is big. Normally I skip days. Sometimes several days. (thanks for calling me out on THAT one, JOSE!) But I love my little piece of the "blogiverse" and I guess that is all that matters. I write what I want, when I want. If you guys choose to read or even comment, well that is just gravy. I love you guys!

Ok, I'm a little blank for content tonight. It's time for CSI:NY so I'm gonna go spend myself an hour with my Gary. *sigh*

Just so you know
I just want you all to know that I WILL be saying Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year on this blog. I will not be saying Happy Holidays.(I have never uttered the words, "Happy Holidays" to anyone, ever. It's not a phrase I say.)

I also will NOT be offended if you wish me Happy "insert holiday name here".

I refuse to be "politically correct." Whatever that means.

That's all I have to say about that.

In all seriousness
Last night I was strolling through my blog roll and as I was catching up with Cathy's posts at Domestic Psychology I was struck by a sentence in one of her posts. She had posted a photo of two of her friends, a married couple, whose blog names are AT and GAC. The last couple of sentences said this...

They spoke to each other without words. Now, he speaks for both of them. Please continue to show them love and support.

Though I don't know AT and GAC, I was compelled to click the link that Cathy provided. It led me to AT and GAC's blog, Atomic Tumor. There I found AT's account of his wife's sudden illness and all he's been going through in the past 12 days or so. I read and I read and I read as he wrote of first, her flu-like symptoms to her falling into a coma from some amazing yet unknown illness. It is heartbreaking. I read and I cried. I feel like I know GAC just from reading her husband's words of love and awe and pain and hope and faith and complete raw honesty. I can't explain it. You just need to read for yourself.

If you have the chance, visit AT and leave him a comment of support. In our infinite circle of blogs is strength.

Horatio, we have a mole in the department
We had a mole in our house today. A MOLE! A real mole! Seriously, WTF??

The kids had been playing in the back room, AKA laundry room, and had already come running telling Bubba there was a mouse in the trap. (there wasn't) So, a little later when they came screaming into the living room babbling incoherently about a big mouse, we didn't really believe them.

Finally they convinced Bubba to go look. Next thing I know I hear, "Ang, come here!" I didn't want to because I hate knowing there are critters getting into our house let alone looking at them! He was like, "Just come look. What IS this?" Sure enough, there sat a little bitty eye-less mole with a pink snout thingie. Bubba caught it somehow and took it outside. I didn't stick around to watch so I have no idea how he caught it. It turns my stomach just thinking about the thing being in the house. blah..

Do I now have to worry about seeing moles in this house as well as mice? I'll just be over here doing that heebie jeebie shiver thing..kinda like when you walk into a spider web, only with less dancing and jumping around.

A MEME a Day keeps Guppyman away
Ok, I'm not REALLY going to do a meme a day, but man am I tempted..just because GUPPY is such a smart ASS alec...but I won't. I'll spare you all. And I am not really trying to keep Gup away, I just like to pick at him. BUT...what I will do..is offer up a little lyrics quiz..which a lot of people do and which Guppy just did the other day..but I'm not really stealing his idea so much as I am...stealing his idea. Well, not really, because I've done this before..it's just that I am bored enough and my mind is blank enough to do this right now.

My lyrics quiz is, of course, songs from the 80s. Not necessarily good songs, either.
I think I will even do it like the Gupster and leave them bold if they haven't been guessed and unbold them when they've been guessed. So, in comments, you can submit your answers. Song AND artist. There are only 10 because I don't want to fry your brains nor do I want it to take forever to complete. There are no winners because I don't have any good prizes to give away. You'll just be honored with a link to your blog on my blog. What more could you ask for??

1) So many nights I longed to hold you, so many times I looked and saw your face Human by Human League CHRIS got it!!

2) There's something I just have to say, I dont think I can hide what I'm feelin inside Amanda by Boston GUPPY got it!!

3)I've heard all the lines, I've cried oh so many times, Those tear drops they won't fall again True Blue by Madonna CHRIS got it!!

4) Chains of love got a hold on me, when passion's a prison, you can't break free You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi BECKY got it!!

5) I feel a hunger. It's a hunger that tries to keep a man awake at night. Are you the answer? Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money BECKY got it!!

6) We don´t have the time for psychological romance. No romance, no romance, no romance for me mama. Word Up by Cameo SCOOTER got it!

7) Now I bring you home, you told me goodnight's not enough for you. I'm sorry baby. I Didn't Mean To Turn You On by Robert Palmer GUPPY got it!!

8) Tonight, ooh, I was thinking that you might, be the one who breathes life into this heart of mine. The Next Time I Fall by Amy Grant and Peter Cetera TARA got it!!

9) You can lose sight of it all and the darkness inside you can make you feel so small True Colors by Cindy Lauper STACY got it!!

10) I like my bands in business suits, I watch them on TV. I'm working out most everyday and watching what I eat Hip To Be Square by Huey Lewis and the News SCOOTER got it!

There's a gaping hole in my head
Well, I survived the dentist. Barely.

No, really, it wasn't bad at all. I had never had a tooth pulled before so I was a tad nervous. One good thing was that the dentist decided that I only needed one tooth pulled as opposed to two. So, I got to keep my wisdom tooth. Yay me!

Let me just say, rice pudding for dinner, although yummy, is not a filling dinner. (I am back on solid foods now, though.)

If anyone needs anything stashed away, I've got a huge gaping hole in my gums perfect for hiding away Christmas presents or whatever. Just sayin...

Don't say a word
Tonight, we were just sitting around the living room and something on tv reminded Jameson of a 'bad' word his daddy had said earlier.

He said, "Daddy said that same bad word."

I looked at Bubba who was shrugging like he had no idea. So, I said, "What word did Daddy say, Buddy?"

He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "I can't speak it."

After a giggle, I asked him to whisper it to me and he wouldn't be in trouble. So, with a sheepish look he walks over and whispers, "Stupid."

I reprimanded Daddy and Bubby thought that was pretty funny.

I had an appointment with the dentist last week. I didn't really blog about it because I didn't want anyone to ask me how it went. Why? Because I had not been to a dentist in, oh, something like 20 years. No, really. 20 years. Please save the lectures. Do you think I don't KNOW already how important dental health is? Well, I do. But, if you are or have ever been as poor as we are and have been, well, then you would know that dental fees were something that we just didn't (don't) have the money for. I COULD pick up the dental insurance at work, but really, it kind of sucks, and I need the money in my check every week.

Here's the thing. You know you were wondering about the thing. The thing is, I have all of my wisdom teeth. They have all cut through and for the most part they don't give me any problems. Until about a month ago. My upper left wisdom tooth started bothering me a little. No big deal. I figured it would go away. It didn't. Then, my gums started hurting in the back left. Hurting. Badly. Hurting to the point that I could not open my mouth wide enough to take a bite out of normal food. Don't even ask how happy that made Bubba...for reasons I will not discuss here.

Bubba (you know, my wife) took the initiative and made me an appointment. So, I did go. This in and of itself is a huge deal. I HATE HATE HATE new situations around new people that I don't know. This is a major issue with me, I know, and it really just has to do with The Fat. But that is a whole other post. So, anyway, I went and it wasn't so bad. I just have to get a couple of old fillings repaired because they are cracked (I had no idea!) and I have to have the upper left wisdom tooth and the tooth next to it pulled. Bottom line, I don't feel like such a big old redneck because I don't have to have all my teeth pulled. Ahhh...I feel much better now that I can face the blog world.

Did I mention that I have to have the teeth pulled TODAY??

Belated
My blog birthday...blogiversary...whatever..passed right by the other day and I didn't even mention it. I suck.

2 years ago on October 30, 2004 I jumped into the world of blogging. I'm not going to wax all poetic..all I am going to say is, it's been really really fun, despite the occasional run-in I've had with world class jerks! :) I plan to keep blogging for a long long time.

Now, comment and tell me how wonderful I am. :)

Shut up..I know I am a dork.

Sunday stuff
First, an addendum to the myspace post. Someone said they refused to have anything to do with myspace because of sexual predators, etc.. The only thing I have to say about that is that my daughter has hers set so that no one can view her profile unless they are her "friend." I keep an eye on her comments, friends and such. Also, when I said I thought that people who make fun of myspace are funny...well, I make fun of myspace myself. What I meant was..the people, no, BLOGGERS who get all bent out of shape about myspace...THEY crack me up. Not that I need to justify it to anyone..but I'm just sayin. Besides, were it not for myspace, I wouldn't have gotten my autographed CD from my future husband, BOB GENTRY!! (Go to starttomorrow.com to vote for Bob and the band!!)

Ok, enough about myspace because, really it's not worth posting twice about!!

There's another thing sort of myspacey..called tag world. Someone invited me to it the other day. If you're bored, check it out.

So, last night the daughter went to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I'm immune to it all now. It no longer makes me feel sad...or old. I just go with it... She's still with the same guy. It's been 2 years and 3 or 4 months now. Though I think she probably should not stay with the same guy all the way through high school, she is happy. She is 1st in her class. She's involved at school. She's not a crack head. So for now, I'm not rockin' that boat. Besides, would I have listened to MY parents when I was 15 or 16? Uh, probably not. Until I see it getting to the 'we-need-Dr-Phil-intervention' stage, it's all good. Anyway, back to Sadies, here's a photo of them in their matching Pink Floyd shirts.
Yes, I know...she needs to move the hair out of her face...

Brianna and I just watched an old video of me and Bubba going to prom my senior year. Funny stuff complete with big poufy hair, lots of makeup, Bubba wearing and earring, my sister rapping for us at dinner and me and my best friend being complete dorks! Bubba looked so young..and I looked soooo skinny! Those were the days!

In other news...I have to go back to work tomorrow after being off all week. NOOO...I don't want to go!! Work has become so very stressful lately because of a lot of changes and I just dread going back. We had a department meeting today which went very well so that is one good thing. I just hope this isn't one of those busy weeks. Chances are it will be because every week lately has been busy and stressful.

I guess that is it for my random Sunday post. Brianna went to the movies, Bubba went to wal mart and the other two kiddies are snoozing, so I'm going to go pour me a glass of liquid crack Diet Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla and watch the rest of Sixteen Candles on HBO. Nostalgia here I come!

Yes, I have a myspace
You know what cracks me up? People who make fun of myspace. The ones who get on their blog high horse and do nothing but put it down. Don't get me wrong, I think myspace is pretty funny, but I don't really think it is from the devil or anything. I just think it is cheesy fun. It's blinky and glittery and full of some really funny self- taken photos on bad webcams. Oh the fun!

Like a lot of parents, I originally signed up for a myspace when my 15 year old daughter got one. I wanted to be able to see what was going on. I have her sign on name and password as well..just in case. So far, it's been a bunch of teenagers taking themselves way too seriously. What teenager DOESN'T do that?

After I signed up, I kind of forgot all about it. One day, I decided to log on and I had a message from a girl I went to junior high with. 20+ years ago!! (oh my god!) Kind of cool. So we've been playing catch up for a while. I've also connected with a few others, including a family member or two that before we had rarely kept in touch. Very cool.

So what if the dang autoplay busts my eardrums on a daily basis (AUTOPLAY MUST DIE!!) it's been loads of fun reading up on old friends and looking at some of the funniest photos EVER of lots of people who think they are..all that.

Mostly, I think myspace is just cheap entertainment. So what is the big deal? Why complain and freak out about it? Just stay away from it!

Me? I'll be logging on daily to see what goofy bulletins/memes/photos etc have been updated on my favorite people.

and then my heart exploded...yet again
Baby J and I were walking up to the school a few days ago to pick up the Tater and he said, "Braelyn is the best sister ever. Next time she wants my big truck I will let her have it."

This is a super old photo, but I just love it. They've been together every day since Baby J came home from the hospital. They fight like cats and dogs, but what he said was just so sweet. I hope they are close forever.

*SIGH*
Well, it's the last weekday of my vacation. What a bummer. Let's list my accomplishments from this week, shall we?
  • Nothing.
Go, me! Yes, I had lots planned. No, I didn't do any of it. But, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Isn't vacation supposed to be restful? Well, mine was. I completely vegged out and that is what my mind needed. Work is getting so stressful and I just needed time away from it all. So really, accomplishing nothing was good for me. But now I need ANOTHER week off to get some stuff done.

A Halloween Story--People Who Should Not Be Parents Edition
While out and about with the darling kiddies Tuesday night, trick or treating of course, we were lucky enough to witness a wonderful instance of parenting. Our lives will never be the same.

A few steps ahead of us was a family of trick or treaters. Mom, Dad, kids and some other adult. It soon became apparent that the 7 or 8 year old girl didn't want to wear her mask. How did I know this? Well, Daddy was telling her over and over, rather loudly, that he was not letting her go to any more houses until she put her mask on. The girl started to cry. The dad was adamant. "NO! I am not taking you up to that house until you put your mask on!" She kept crying. I think she said, I don't want to wear it. The rest of her group moved on and continued to trick or treat. The girl cried louder. the dad yelled louder. They all walked away from her and she ran screaming after them. Fun stuff.

After managing to get my kids to stop staring at the display, we got a little distance between us and that group. Oh, but, it gets better. See, that initial encounter wasn't THAT bad. I just kept thinking, 'good job ruining your daughter's memories of Halloween and trick or treating.'

As we moved down the street, we ran into the same group again. The little girl is still crying/shrieking and now the mom (or grandma, we couldn't tell) and the dad are saying this..."Put your G**D*** mask on..." and "Shut your G**D*** mouth or I'll just take your G**D*** ass home...." etc... All the while the dad is making it seem like this is the worst thing that has ever happened to him. Lovely. It was uncomfortable for everyone around. They were just making it worse for the little girl. In my opinion, what they should have done was, if the mask was such a big deal and she refused to put it on, then they should have taken her home/to their car and there would end the trick or treating.

That little girl has no chance. I am so sad for her.

Don't get me wrong, I KNOW kids are frustrating at times and heck..even embarrassing in their tantrums. Making it worse by cursing like that at a child is just ridiculous. I don't claim to be a perfect parent. I'm far from perfect in any way shape or form, but I know that humiliating a child in such a way is just wrong.

NaBloPoMo
Don't know if you've heard about it...but I'm participating in NaBloPoMo. IT stands for National Blog Posting Month. Kinda like that NaNoWriMo thing that I would NEVER do because I am a sucky writer.Basically, it is just a challenge to post at least once per day in the month of November. Sucky novel writing=NO. Sucky blog posting every day for 30 days=YES! I'm warning you now..there may be lots of photo posts and meme's this month. Just sayin.

Obligatory after Halloween post
You knew I would. And here they are. Click 'em to big 'em.

Big sis helping lil sis with her makeup. The actual name of this costume on the packaging was "Strawberry Tart." Um..ooookay. So we just called her Strawberry Girl. The wig..did not fit and DID. NOT. STRETCH. We bobby pinned and clipped all we could. This was the best it looked all night. If you look closely, you can see the only shirt we could find to go underneath her costume because it was so freakin' cold out. It has a christmas tree on it and you can see the top of it there on her chest.

I managed to NOT get a photo of Darth with his mask actually ON. Awesome. As you can see, the wig is migrating backward.

Ok, I know I am slightly biased as her mother, but she really is pretty, isn't she? Red brings out her eyes.

This is the end of the night. See how the wig is resting on the BACK of her head? Nice. Big sis was hanging out at her boyfriend's house where they were making s'mores and roasting weenies, hence the weenie stick in her hand. (wow, that was bad.) I've got cute kids. :)

Hope you all had a fun night last night, whatever you did!
