TV Talk |
So, the Oscars are on tonight. Right now as a matter of fact. They just aren't as much fun as the Grammys (grammies? grammy's? I've been out of school way too long.) to pick apart and crack on. Mainly because most everyone looks glamorous as opposed to "rock star." All the women I've seen on the red carpet so far has looked really good.
So, on to more tv talk. I am so bad about updating here so now, after all the other bloggers have commented on the tv shows of the past week, I am chiming in with my 2 cents worth.
Last weeks episode of Desperate Housewives was really good! A total "GASP! and choke on the popcorn kind of moment there at the end. Those who watch will know what I am talking about. When Susan was screaming at who she thought was her daughter making out in the pool and it ended up being Bree's son and the other guy! Wow! Did NOT see that coming! I love that show.
I am loving American Idol for the cheesiness and bad singing. Picking the best of the worst is fun! Throwing things at the tv when Paula Abdul, (she of the spread-fingers-clap), is shown is even more fun! Simon is the only completely honest one of the bunch. Oh, and, WHY are the judges even needed at this point? Let America vote and be done with it!
Lost is still so good! Keeps me watching week after week. I want more story on Hurley. I think his back story will be next week because did you see him on the tv that little girl was watching during the korean man's flashback?? How cool that all these people, or some of them were sorta kinda connected before the crash.
Ok, enough tv talk for now.
Ang out. |

Happy 14th Birthday, Guard Girl! |
Today is Guard Girl's birthday. She is 14 years old today. I can't believe it. I remember the day of her birth like it was yesterday, almost. Some of the details are fuzzy, but the important stuff is there. Bubba-ump and I were young and probably just a little scared. I had just turned 20 and he was 19. But we plunged head first into parenthood. We haven't done a bad job so far. Perhaps you should ask Guard Girl that question, though. Anyway, on February 25, 1991 at 9:58pm, Guard Girl was born via c-section. She weighed in at 8lbs 8.5 oz and was 21 inches long. (I think) She was a great baby. A wonderful sleeper and just a happy baby in general. She was the first grandchild for my parents so for the first 2 years of her life, before any cousins came along, she was IT. Spoiled rotten. She was, and still is very smart. She has turned into quite a young woman who is funny, loving, caring, and beautiful. (even though she always says she is the mean one amongst her friends.) We couldn't be more proud! Happy Birthday, Brianna! (By the way, guess who shares her birthday today? It's quite an eclectic group. Justin from the now defunct group 98 degrees, Sean Astin of LOTR fame, George Harrison the Beatle, Sally Jessy Raphael she of red glasses and trash tv, Jim Backus aka Thurston J Howell, III from Gilligan's Island, and Renoir he was some famous painter guy. :))
Here is Guard Girl way back in 1991. She was about 6 or 7 months old. Time flies! Scroll down a bit to see her as she was just a week or so ago on Valentine's Day. |

Badly Overacted Horatio Quote of the Week |
In cases like this...the only one with jurisdiction...is the fire.
Horatio Caine...I heart you for your silly one liners that are meant to be so serious but make me groan and laugh every week!
Now, I have to admit, the writers for all 3 CSI's use these silly one liners...but for some reason, the delivery of the lines by that CSI guy...Grissom, whatever his name is in real life and by Gary Sinise in CSI:NY is so much better. They actually work rather than make me groan and throw things at the tv. |

Because my husband is a smart a** |
I am now blogging because, well, frankly, I HAVE been meaning to write a whole bunch of stuff since last Monday, but it has just been one of those weeks. But a couple of nights ago the Bubba was on the computer and he says..."Dang, I wish this chick would update her blog." So, of course I look to see who he is talking about and of course, it's me. He's a riot. (warning--inside joke for Bubba-ump-- Starts another big RIOT! If he doesn't get it, then I really know he isn't paying attention to ANYTHING!)
Anyway, what has been going on here in the land of the ficken...the home of the chingers...?? Hmm...I've waited too long to write about anything and now I have to try to dredge it up from the recesses of my little brain.
I had a really good Badly Overacted Horatio Quote for this week. I wrote it down and everything, but that little yellow piece of paper has since diappeared. Suffice it to say, David Caruso still overacts with every line he speaks on CSI:Miami.
Has anyone tried the new Dr Pepper? Cherry Vanilla. Yum in a bottle! Diet and regular are both good if really, really cold. Now I will have to switch off from Sprite Zero every once in a while.
We had no guard competition to go to yesterday. It was strange having no where to go. Well, that isn't entirely true. Guard Girl and I went shopping for Drummer Boy's birthday gift and also for supplies for her History Day project. Drummer boy is getting spoiled with 3 CDs. AC/DC, Guns 'n Roses and Led Zepplin. My daughter is dating a metal head. Help me, Jesus. (Actually, Drummer Boy is a good kid. And, I like his parents. so, it's all good. For now.) Those CDs were purchased at good old Wal mart and the next stop was Hobby Lobby for project supplies. Stencils, spray paint, construction paper, etc...Guard Girl ended up with brown spray painted hands at the end of the day. She went to Taco Bell with the guard like that. Nice.
I love Hobby Lobby. I go into scrapbook supply overload when I go in there. I want one of EVERYTHING! Even though I NEVER scrap. I still want all the stuff!! If you all could only see the pictures I have. The stacks and stacks of pictures. Boxes and boxes of pictures. I can't even think about it because I know I will never catch up. Then again, that means I will never run out of stuff to do. It is just so hard to scrap much with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I keep saying, as soon as they are in school I can scrap. By then my body will be found beneath the mountain of pictures and there will be no saving me!
Who's been watching American Idol? I am so glad they have made the cuts down to the 24. For the most part I think the judges chose well. I am also glad we made it through a week without Paula Abdul flipping out and getting all mad at Simon. She drives me freakin' batty!!
ok, I've rambled enough for one night. And to think, I really can't remember what I was going to write about in the first place. |

Happy Valentine's Day! |
Did everyone have an enjoyable day of love?? I had a very nice day despite having to work. Guard Girl got flowers and candy from Drummer Boy. Pretty soon they'll be engaged. Just kidding Bubba-ump! Leave me a comment and let me know how you all celebrated, if you did.

Watchin' the Grammys? |
Anyone else watching? I have to watch 'cause I'm all celebrity stalker like that...no really, I like to see who performs and if they suck. And, of course, I like to see how badly everyone is dressed. Speaking of poorly dressed...Gwen Stefani. What the heck was she wearing?? Alicia Keys just performed and she looks really gorgeous. The opening montage of musical artists was pretty good, I thought. But, then I do love Maroon 5 and they were in it.
Ok, just wondering who else was watching. I'll ramble on later.
8:45pm Does U2 rock or what?!?! Awesome!
9:04pm Mark Anthony sounded good...J-lo sounded mediocre as usual. I am not a fan. Gretchen Wilson makes me cringe. Matthew McConaughey (Hey! I think I spelled it right!) looked scrumptious!
10:52pm There's been some interesting stuff at the Grammy's tonight. It was quite a shock to see a bald Melissa Etheridge perform. Joss Stone was great, though. Bubba-ump is waiting for her to turn 18 so he can say she is hot. The big song with U2 and Velvet Revolver and all the others was really cool! (do I sound really old and nerdy saying "cool?")
On a non-Grammy note...Survivor starts Thursday! Woo hoo!
11:17pm Did anyone see that dress that Sheryl Crow had on? It looked weird on her. John Mayer's jacket looked odd. Rob Thomas looked sexy even if he did cut all his hair off. Speaking of bad dresses...did you see Loretta Lynn??
11:26pm My Gary just presented an award. He looks adorable in his glasses! (he's on my list, you know.) |

Dude, I got a DELL |
I am now wallowing in brand new Dell computer yumminess! You don't even know what kind of luxery this is. Our old computer was given to us a few years ago after having been used for several years before that. Needless to say, it was cranky and noisy and basically a piece o' crapola. It froze up on a daily basis. It lost memory like crazy. And, when I say noisy, I mean noisy. Oh, it was not something you would notice walking into the room, however, upon shutting it down at night, you then realized that THE TV WAS ON REALLY REALLY LOUD TO DROWN OUT THE COMPUTER! So, now, I am enjoying the silence(a la Depeche Mode)of my BRAND NEW computer, smelling the smells of the BRAND NEW computer, and cursing the NON-split keyboard that came with my BRAND NEW computer. Somebody touch me, please, before the awesomeness wears off because I have a BRAND NEW computer. |

What'd I miss?!?! |
Will someone please tell me how my blogroll got so HUGE?? How in the world can I keep up with all these amusing, entertaining people?? And then, if I don't read them, then I miss something. Something funny. Or sad. Or something oh-my-god-that-is-so-true! If I don't keep up, then I have to catch up the next time. It is a vicious cycle, I tell you. I can't stop!
No real point for this post...I just felt like writing something. |

The Cheeseball you've all been waiting for |
Here it is!
Chocolate Chip Cheeseball
Ingredients:
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
3/4 cup miniature chocolate chips (I don't even measure these, I just add until chocolate overload!)
3/4 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually add the sugars and beat just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Place mixture on plastic wrap and shape into a ball. Refrigerate at least an hour. Roll in pecans before serving. Serve plain or with cinnamon or chocolate graham crakcers.
Now, I will tell you my last batch turned out to be more of a dip because it never would set enough to make a ball. But, it was still DEEEE-LISH! Enjoy! |
